Each child follows a certain sequence of child development stages while he grows and matures. Though some children have more learning speed than others but all have to pass each any every stage in his life. Therefore these stages are called development milestones in his life. Physical development of baby
The first 3 months of child development includes his smiling at parents and making vocal noises. In the period of 3 to 9 months, various physical development of child’s body takes place, which include:-
- A baby lies upside down and tries to bear weight on his arms
- Rolls, starts wiggling and crawling with completion of 9 months
- Tries to stand at the age of 1 year.
- In next six months, he learns to walk without help
- At the age of 2 years, he starts running
Language development in baby
Language development in a baby also takes place in the stages.
- Starts imitating and responding after 6 months
- Babbling words at the age of 9 months
- At the age of 1 year, he babbles 2-3 words repeatedly
- In next six months, he starts uttering words
- At the age of 2 year, joining of few words to disturb parents are sufficient
- After one more year, parents should get ready to answer his queries
Parents play a great role in language development of their child by speaking to him directly. Avoid baby talk to them. Speak politely so that he can follow you.
Cognitive development
After attaining the age of 1 year, the child starts his cognitive development. At this age he starts learning and playing with toys. Parents play a key role in teaching him at this time as he grasp things quickly.
Parents can start building up his vocabulary. They can start teaching him from picture books as language comprehension starts developing rapidly. Story telling can prove to be an effective way to help him to learn. Few small English words can be taught to them.
